Martin Taylor
Martin Taylor has been painting for as long as he can remember. He worked in graphics since the mid 80's and art was always a hobby, but deep down he wanted to be recognised as an artist. Moving to Bournemouth twelve years ago finally gave him the room to be able to paint. Martin consideres that not being professionally trained gave him more freedom to try out new things and over the years, he has experimented with many different techniques, styles, colour, imagery, etc. Not being trained by other artists or having the chance to go to college or university has not held him back either. He has used his years to experiment and try new things and entering as many art competitions as possible spurred him on to explore and pursue different techniques and media.
The current style he has been working on started out as a competition entry for Still Life. He decided to use the different materials by starting in pencil and then pen. Once happy with the result, he finished in oil pastels. On a recommendation he began to use acrylic on board and has been successfully painting in this style and technique ever since.
